After having to postpone the January Tournament do to extreme cold temperatures, The Big Shanty Bassmasters got their 1st event of 2025
off at Lake West Point in Lagrange, Ga. After heavy rains leading up to the event, the water in West Point was muddy in the river and main lake with heavy debris floating everywhere to some stained water in the very backs of the creeks. Water temps seemed to be stabilized around the 50 degree mark from the 109 bridge south. On to the results:
Derrick Lowery came out on top on the boater side with 5 fish limit for 10.31lbs. Russell "Fishpuck" Scholes won on the Co-side with 2 fsh for 3.79. and Stan Hudson had Big fish of the event for 2.88 lbs.

Next month its off to Lake Guntersville and members are advised to get their Boater Education certificate, now required for all who boat on Alabama Waterways.
We are always looking for new members, both Boater and Co. If you are wanting to learn more about bass fishing or hone your skills, come check us out. We meet the first Monday of the month at JD's BBQ in downtown Acworth. Meetings start at 7pm and last roughly 60-90 minutes.
