Whats it all about?
Bass Club membership offers fishing enthusiasts a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and grow within a passionate community of anglers. It’s a gateway to elevating your skills while sharing memorable experiences with fellow fishing aficionados. It also is a way to make new and lasting friendships with other people who enjoy the same passion as you for fishing.
But I don’t have a Boat- That’s ok, we are a draw club in that you don’t need to own a boat to join. Each month we draw partners for that month’s event. This way you get to learn about different techniques, both what works and what doesn’t work.
I own a boat, who pays for my gas? Am I on the hook for that? It depends, at the meeting we set what we call a No Boater Fee- This fee is calculated depending on the price per gallon of gas and mileage from our meeting place to the lake. This is the maximum amount you can charge your Co-Angler. Some of our boater members take less depending on whether they didn’t used a lot of gas or if they didn’t run that long, or if the Co-Angler drove them self to the ramp. Sometimes the Co-Angler would offer a little more. That’s up to them. Now if you draw out by yourself, you can go alone. In this instance then yes you are on your own for gas/oil. After pairings are completed, all unpaired Boaters can pair on their own if they wish to do so to save money.
What are the dues- Its $120.00 annually and $25 per month and that’s if you fish that month or not. Just like a gym membership, you still pay it if you don’t use it.
Where does the money go? The dues are broken down like this:
Out of the $120.00 Annual dues 2/3 ($85) shall go towards club operations and that’s further broken down as; $30 for B.A.S.S. Nation Dues, $30 Ga. B.A.S.S. Nation Dues $25 to the club. The other 1/3 ($35) goes towards a starter fund for this year’s State Team Fund.
The monthly dues ($25 per month on a quarterly basis $75) are broken down this way- 1/3 ($10) per month goes towards the State Team Fund and the other 2/3 ($15) shall go towards the monthly payout should you fish. If you don’t fish, then it goes towards the Club General funds. The Club General funds pay for our web site, and Corporation fees. Also, depending on fund availability, we might pay for lodging on a two-day trip, or have a cookout. We also might need to purchase new scales and such. It’s better to build a reserve each month than for you to walk into a meeting and feel like you are being nickeled and dimed with the officers asking for a special assessment to cover a expenditure. Although sometimes we have to ask for a special assessment but very rarely.
Money raised for the State Team is set aside for them to help pay for Lodging/Food/ Gas as they represent the club at the State Championship. The State team consists of the Top 6 finishers from the year and they have the opportunity to go and represent the club in the State Championship.
Sounds good but I can’t fish every event, so I probably won’t be able to make the state team.
No worries there, we have a few members who can’t fish every event either due to work or family commitment. Our events are scored by a point system and you have the opportunity to earn Bonus Points by being active in the club with its various functions. While we do love to fish, we are more than that in that we hold a charity Fishing event each year that is a Toy Drive for either Toys for Tots or another local church. You can gain valuable bonus points by helping at those events as well as helping the State when they ask for volunteers to help at a youth event.
And even then, we have some members who finish high enough but can’t go to the championship, at that time we open it up to the general membership to fill the vacant spot.
OK I’m in what’s next:
1) Fill out a membership application and send it to our email.
2) Attend 2 meetings and fish 2 Prospective tournaments after your 2nd Tournament/meeting you will be voted on by the club.
3) You must be a member of B.A.S.S. (you don’t need to join right away this can be done after membership is awarded).
